Course content:

Eight modules designed around PowerPoint presentations.

Opportunities for students to contribute ideas throughout the lesson.

Homework tasks are an opportunity to experiment with ideas put forward in the lesson.

Homework is individually marked with detailed feedback.

Modules cover: assessment criteria, initial ideas, planning, engaging story starters, endings, build-up, description & detail, overview and ideas for further development.

Entry requirements:

Students should already have a solid grasp of Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar, but are wanting to advance beyond ‘correct’ to OUTSTANDING.

Before accepting you on to the course, I will set a short writing task to check suitability.

Ideally, students will be around the age of 10 (in the UK, year 5), and have several months to a year before they are due to sit the exam. Advanced students in year 4 may already be eligible. It is also a useful pre-exam booster for students in year 6 who are due to sit the exam shortly.
