In my previous blog, I asked students to suggest an ending to my story: The Wrong Side of Bed. I have made my choice - here is the complete story with the winning entry attached to the end.
I like this ending (age 10 student) as it is feels like a resolution - it ties together themes developed throughout the story and has an up-beat tone to it. We are all unique and we all have a different perspective. Rather than being a cause for exclusion, these differences should be valued and celebrated.
I also enjoyed the following ending (age 10) for the descriptive use of language, although I'm not so keen on the dream explanation - it's too easy and overused, therefore best avoided.
Have a fabulous weekend; may it be filled with rainbows and silver linings!
P.S. The artist of the painting at the end of my previous blog was Kandinsky, a Russian artist with a rare condition known as synesthesia. This is when sensory information gets muddled up. My own example of what this might mean - the taste of ice-cream may be perceived as a dog barking. Curious indeed! This condition may have contributed to the unusual and colourful style of Kandinsky's work. My story was inspired by this but the details are entirely fictional.
